About Risk Analysis and Ratings Review (RARR)

RARR’s purpose is to enhance CRISIL’s core business strengths and protect its franchise.

For CRISIL as a whole, we carry out incisive, thematic interventions. Our work helps the Board and management to assess core analytical systems, keep track of rapidly-evolving risks, and put in place robust procedures and defences.

For CRISIL Ratings, we carry out in-depth reviews of analytical quality. Working in close partnership with the business, we arrive at clear areas for improvement and action plans. To the CRISIL Ratings Board, we provide an independent assurance of analytical quality, and early warnings of potential gaps. 

Job Role:

We are looking for an experienced and capable analyst who wants to harness intellectual prowess and curiosity to create lasting business value. You will work on projects that last for 2 to 3 months, and require understanding at a level of depth that can provide useful insights to current experts. These will often be in areas that you have never worked in – the ability to immerse yourself in a new subject, and learn quickly, are at a premium in this role.

Your work will be part of presentations to the Board of Directors – we expect commensurate depth and quality.

Deliverables:

• Risk – Contribute centrally to varied and analytically challenging projects, focused on the assessment and evaluation of risk from diverse areas. Recent examples include a study of risks arising from LLMs, and the revamp of a control maturity index for CRISIL businesses.
• CRISIL Ratings – Understand and critically evaluate credit analysis documentation (Rating Notes, Rating Rationales, Credit Rating Reports, Criteria and Methodologies etc.) and correlate these with other relevant information. Derive meaningful insights that help to strengthen analytical rigor and quality.
• Across CRISIL – Understand analytical procedures and methodologies in other CRISIL groups; partner with business teams to help create and maintain authoritative, robust CRISIL IP products.
• Help prepare presentations to Boards and CRISIL management that convey nuanced messages in a sharp and engaging manner, while maintaining an impartial stance.

Prerequisites:

• Analytical flexibility and curiosity are essential in this role. We are looking for someone who can create value by going in depth into a wide range of subjects in a limited time.
• An intuitive feel for various aspects of data – its completeness, reliability, interpretation, and presentation. Should be able to work with proxies while understanding their limitations. 
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Good understanding of Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Strong communication skills based on clear thinking
• Ability to work smoothly with diverse stakeholders, taking into account their incentives and priorities

Educational Qualification:

MBA from a high-tier B-school (preferred), or a high-ranking CA
