ROLE SUMMARY

The Data Engineering Lead within the Aviation team at Lab45 will guide a team of engineers in developing innovative, high-quality, and scalable solutions for enterprise technology. This role involves ensuring adherence to coding standards, implementing robust testing processes, and translating system requirements into technical specifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in modern software development, cloud platforms, and Agile methodologies, with a strong focus on fostering team growth and ensuring timely, bug-free releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

·          Provide leadership, guidance, and support to engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a positive work environment.

• Review code and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.
• Implement and maintain robust testing processes to ensure the reliability and scalability of services and applications.
• Design systems that can handle scalability and performance requirements, considering data volume, concurrency, and system bottlenecks.
• Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to understand system requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Identify key system components, interfaces, and dependencies.
• Manage the engineering team and oversee performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to ensure timely, bug-free releases.
• Maintain clear communication and provide 100% visibility of project status to all stakeholders.
• Demonstrate strong experience with Build and Release, Agile processes, and Estimation/Planning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Skilled in PLSQL, PGSQL, SQL, Linux scripting, data analysis, and production data support.
• Hands-on experience with ORACLE and POSTGRESQL databases.
• Good to have: Kafka, Debezium, KSQL, Kubernetes, Flink, or equivalent open-source technologies.
• Exposure to DBA/performance tuning aspects is an advantage.
• Proven experience in analyzing production issues using logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
• Deep understanding and commitment to modern software engineering principles/processes (Agile, Lean, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
• Demonstrable experience driving collaboration and solutions across teams.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Experience in a lead role and managing a small team.
• Excellent communication skills.
