Senior Director - Head of Data, JioCinema

Our engineering team defines the technical architecture and drives itself to build systems that serve billions of requests per day, cosmic scales of video content streamed every day, with ultra-low latency design and high reliability. We make sure every byte of video content gets to millions of viewers, at the highest quality possible. What will you do?


  • Summary: We are seeking a visionary Head of Data Engineering and Analytics to lead our data infrastructure, engineering, and analytics initiatives. This crucial role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms while driving advanced analytics to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, a deep understanding of modern data architectures and analytics, and proven leadership abilities.

    • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for data engineering and analytics aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define data and analytics initiatives and priorities.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data innovation.
    • Data Platform and Engineering Development:
  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and efficient data platforms.
  • Oversee the development of data pipelines, ETL processes, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and security across all data systems.
    • Advanced Analytics and Insights:
  • Drive the development of advanced analytics capabilities, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Partner with data evangelists and analysts to deliver actionable insights and data-driven solutions.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
    • Team Management:
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data and analytics needs and deliver solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure data and analytics initiatives are aligned with business needs.
    • Technical Expertise:
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in data architecture, data engineering, and analytics.
  • Oversee the selection and integration of data and analytics tools and technologies.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing performance.
    • Operational Excellence:
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for data platform performance and analytics impact.
  • Implement processes and practices to ensure efficient data operations and rapid issue resolution.
  • Manage the budget and resources for the data engineering and analytics team.

    • Who should apply for this role?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing data engineering and analytics teams.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data platforms and analytics solutions.
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, or Java.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools and techniques, including machine learning and data visualization.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
