Description

Payments Security is seeking a highly capable Security Engineer to secure products and services developed by payments businesses at Amazon. To achieve this mission, you will leverage your in-depth understanding of application and infrastructure security to conduct security assessments across the set of products built by payments businesses.

To succeed, you must thrive in high-pressure situations, collaborate closely with software development teams, think both like an attacker and a defender, be able to evaluate software architectures and associated security posture at varying levels of abstraction, dive deep into code to identify vulnerabilities, and drive remediation or security issues that you identify. In a given day, you might be inspecting an application’s code for security issues, building a new framework to help our software developers build faster and more securely, or fine-tuning the design for a new service alongside its software developers.

The ideal candidate combines technical acumen with an ability to lead by influence and communicate clearly. You will clearly articulate risks to technical and non-technical audiences alike while effectively harmonize disparate opinions and prioritize risks to guide partners towards secure solutions.

Key job responsibilities
You must have passion for building secure products, competency in application security and software development, as well as fluency on cloud architectures.

You should be able to:
- Create, update, and maintain threat models for variety of software products
- Conduct manual and automated Secure Code Review (in Java, Python, and Javascript)
- Develop tools to improve security automation
- Train your peers and software engineers on security topics
- Understand security architecture and design guidance
- Independently solve security problems that require novel methods or approaches
- Influence your team’s and partners’ process, priorities, and choices to improve outcomes
- Confidently and intelligently respond to security findings, proactively considering how to prevent recurrence of similar incidents
- Learn about operational business functions and how systems and software enable our customer and partner journey
- Analyze logging and alerting infrastructure to ensure appropriate coverage and response capability
- Evaluate impact of current security trends, advisories, publications, and academic research
- Fulfill regular on-call responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
- Experience with AWS products and services
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
