Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in law (BA.LLB / J.D or equivalent, full time) from a recognized law school
2. Admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
3. 5+ years of professional qualified work experience in intellectual property law
4. Experience in handling the following is a MUST: intellectual property portfolio management (search, prosecution, registration, maintenance, and related advice); drafting / reviewing / advising on / negotiating intellectual property, technology, software, and media contracts; counselling / advising product and/or engineering teams on intellectual property matters; conducting IP assessments of products / services; IP litigation and enforcement matters; open-source software licenses and compliance; etc.
Helpful Additional Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree in law, with intellectual property and media law specialization, is beneficial
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the IP portfolio including maintaining trackers, updating internal systems, creating/maintaining records, etc.
2. Oversee and manage outside counsel / law firms, track the IP budget, and manage billing activities.
3. Manage and maintain the inventor awards program
4. Draft / review contracts and advice on IP matters
5. Conduct IP due diligence and support on M&A matters
6. Counsel / advice product and/or engineering teams on IP matters including IP identification and protection and conducting new product/solution reviews
7. Draft, review and advice on IP litigation and enforcement matters including issuing take-down / legal notices and monitoring brand enforcement programs
8. Review use of open-source software and advice on open-source license compliance
9. Identify suitable software, shortlist vendors, and deploy suitable automation platforms for the IP function
10. Coordinate / deliver IP training / awareness programs / initiatives
11. Support IP Strategy initiatives
12. Draft and implement policies, new processes, etc.
