We are looking for a

Senior Machine Learning Engineer

to join the Advanced Analytics IT Product Team in KONE IT Enterprise Data & Analytics Unit in Pune. The Advanced Analytics IT Product Team builds data products and advanced analytics products across business domains to enable KONE business functions to make data driven decisions giving them a competitive edge in our business landscape. Advanced analytics product teams apply predictive and prescriptive analysis to business use cases to predict future business outcomes and to prescribe potential courses of action to guide the business decision-making.

Machine Learning (ML) Engineer utilizes data to design, develop, test and validate, and deploy advanced analytics, machine learning and AI solutions, industrialize and operate them so that target users can use them reliably and securely. ML Engineer designs data modeling processes, creates algorithms, and models and integrates them to IT Products for use in enterprise IT environment. ML Engineer participates in peer reviews and defect resolutions. ML Engineer ensures the implemented advanced analytics, AI and ML products, and their features are operational in production environments and seeks to continuously improve the solution based on the performance of the products and features.

To succeed in Machine Learning Engineer role, following professional experience will play a key role:

• Master's degree in a quantitative field, for example machine learning, computer science, physics, statistics or mathematics.
• Proven track record in applying advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence to business problems using cloud technology as industrial scale solutions.
• 4-6 years of professional hands-on experience in machine learning, data science and / or data engineering fields depending on the seniority of the role:
  • Technical proficiency with our cloud platform: AWS, especially in components such as DynamoDB, CloudFormation, Route53, S3, AWS CDK, and AppFlow. Relevant AWS certificates preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in Databricks for machine learning, AI and data science application. Experience with workflow orchestration, unity catalog, Spark (PySpark) and MLFlow. Relevant Databricks certificates preferred.
  • Technical proficiency on tools such as Gitlab/GitHub, Airflow, and Terraform for IaaC.
  • Coding proficiency with multiple languages (Python, SQL and DBT) with proven hands-on experience in industry standard software development life cycle methods and DevOps practices spanning the full solution lifecycle.
  • Understanding cybersecurity guidelines, data privacy and compliancy regulations.
  • Ability to write maintainable code and experience with software testing practices.
  • Write clear technical documentation and visualize your technical design.
  • Practical experience in working with enterprise data landscapes and data structures: Structural data, non-structural data, metadata, master data, transactional data, batch/NRT. Experience in enterprise data sources such as e.g. SAP ERP, Salesforce and product data management (PDM).

• For Senior ML Engineer position, you are expected also to have proficiency in:
  • Acting as the go-to person in the methodological and technical aspects of ML engineering, promoting innovation in ML engineering, critically evaluate new methods and applying them in practice.
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing ML engineering process improvements, e.g. automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Ensure solutions are implemented with industry best practices and aligned with KONE’s technical design principles and architecture while ensuring all ML engineers follow agreed development process and agreed CI/CD principles.
  • Plan and conduct quality actions such as code reviews, supports and coach others.
  • Demonstrating in-depth process and data knowledge for the business domain(s) you are allocated to work with.
  • Taking additional responsibilities such as the role of Scrum Master, leading task forces and defect triages.
  • Experience in coaching and / or mentoring junior developers and engineers.

  • Passion to utilize agile development methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, draw.io).
  • Ability to work in global multi-cultural team and effectively collaborate within the team.
  • Ability to self-organize and be proactive, seek feedback, be courageous and resilient, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English language, and strong facilitation and communication skills.
