Sr. Ideation Engineer

Experience: Minimum 6 to 8-years of academic experience in delivering Power & Energy related training courses with special focus on areas like DERs, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Energy analytics, Demand Flexibility and Sustainable Mobility. 

Objective/Purpose:

We are looking for an Ideation Engineer role, reporting to the Ideation Department Manager in L&T PT&D Digital Solutions business unit, located in Chennai. In this role, you will contribute towards innovations through futuristic and disruptive Idea generation, idea incubation and commercialization for digital solutions. You will be working on a new, strategic, next generation, emerging technology oriented digital solutions project where you get an opportunity to work with people who are passionate and excited about software, cloud and IoT. Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Govt. organizations, universities, industrial forums and identify potential opportunities for Ideation, making new proposals for Govt. grants and funding schemes. 
• Understand customer pain points/issues/stories and translate it into well-defined problem statements to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
• Explore emerging technologies and come up with Idea proposals which are relevant to PT&D DS business segments. 
• Performing proof-of-concept studies to demonstrate promise in innovative solutions. Writing research proposals and securing buy-in from business leaders and global managers.
• Prepare periodic market research, literature surveys on emerging technologies in the area of Energy Sector and produce insightful reports to stakeholders and other teams within L&T PT&D DS.
• Develop relevant simulation models and scenarios for testing the Idea/PoC.
• ·        Collaborate with Universities & colleges in driving various innovation programs such as Hackathons, ICT/DST programs.
• ·        Be mentor for the student internship programs facilitated by DS Idea Incubation Cell.
• ·        Publish relevant white papers & journals for creating more visibility for DS
• Participating in technical visits, workshops, conferences, trade shows and delivery of customer/stakeholder training according to the specific case and opportunity.
• Contribute to standardization bodies activities as required. 
• Take complete ownership of identifying and protecting intellectual properties, patents and contribute for driving technical innovation across the team.
• Communication of project results to technical experts and management

Your background:

• Ph.D. in Electrical/ Computer Science/Power System engineering with a strong publication and patent record in the emerging technology areas.
• Required 6+ years of experience in industrial research/ R&D projects.
• Experience in hands-on development of Proof on Concepts and Minimum Viable Products
• Knowledge about Emerging technology areas like AI/ML, Blockchain, Metaverse
• Publish technical papers as well as submission of innovations and patents related.
• Autonomous proposal, development, and demonstration of novel techniques for increased differentiation from competition.
• Identification of IP opportunities and tracking of patents preparation.
• Working with customers and various stakeholders to identify emerging requirements and problem areas to generate new ideas and prioritizing it for future developments.
• Participating in technical visits, workshops, conferences, trade shows and delivery of customer/stakeholder training according to the specific case and opportunity.
• Contribute to standardization bodies activities as required.

Desired Skills:

• Minimum 4 to 6-year research experience and aptitude for developing R&D activities related to technology development, PoC development, making proposals for availing Govt. Grants, DST projects etc.
• Knowledge in Blockchain technology, smart contracts, and its uses in various industry applications
• Solid knowledge on Smart Grids context and Renewable Energy Management Solutions
• Strong algorithm development capabilities.
• Strong programming skills namely (but not exclusively) on Java/C#, Python, CNN etc.
