Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying and solving issues within multiple components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve working with Micro Focus COBOL and providing dynamic support to ensure smooth functioning of the systems. Roles & Responsibilities: - Provide technical support for critical business systems, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles. - Participate in the design and implementation of system enhancements and upgrades, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and adherence to best practices. - Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues, implementing solutions to prevent downtime and ensure system availability. Professional & Technical Skills: - Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Micro Focus COBOL. - Good To Have Skills: Knowledge of other programming languages such as Java or C++. - Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and ITIL processes. - Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a production environment. - Familiarity with database technologies such as Oracle or SQL Server. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Additional Information: - The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Micro Focus COBOL. - The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in computer science or a related field, along with a proven track record of providing technical support for critical business systems. - This position is based at our Chennai office.
