Introduction to role
Global Supply Chain & Strategy (GSC&S) leads the design, planning, and development of AstraZeneca’s end-to-end supply chains, delivering clear strategic focus and optimizing performance. The technology, data, and information that underpin the Global Supply network are key accountabilities of GSC&S. Third Party Supply (3PS) sits within GSC&S and is responsible for the supply of products that AstraZeneca has divested yet continues to manufacture for our partners. This is achieved through proactively managing the transition and execution of order management and forecasting for global external customers with whom we have supply contracts. The 3PS Demand Planner is a unique role, serving as the key interface and point of contact with 30 external customers and the relevant AstraZeneca global supply network and functions. The role is central to the supply and demand process, with a clear line of sight and impact on delivering medicine to patients. This customer-facing role relies on building strong working relationships through effective communication and an excellent level of English (written and oral) with a broad range of globally based external customers.
Accountabilities
Forecast demand management with receipt and validation of forecasts and corresponding Customer Purchase Orders in line with contractual agreements. Focus on the 3-24 month horizon
Manage forecasts through AZ systems and processes (New pack code creation, MasterData set up). Daily working within V4CAST, OMP, APO systems
Proactively manage monthly order cycle. Accountable for managing impact of short-term demand changes, supply site issues, and exceptional events. Ensure correct impact assessment and outcomes are appropriately handled and communicated in a professional and timely manner to both external customers and AZ sites & functions
Identification, monitoring & escalation of order delays that may impact delivery (OTIF) and contractual obligations
Co-ordinate SOTC (Sales-Order-To-Cash) and MAH (Marketing Authorisation Holder) transitions to external customers and any associated pack changes as part of 3PS demand switch execution process
Input to Customer Account Managers, Planning Organisation, and supply sites of external customer and site intelligence via effective meeting structures
Drive standardisation and simplification of business processes using LEAN capability framework to improve ways of working and reduce waste
Use demand planning capability & technical SAP expertise to represent 3PS in Axial design and deployment
Represent Demand Planners in other nominated projects (e.g. switch programs, GSC&S business process improvements, SME development, and digital initiatives)
Essential Skills/Experience
Graduate status or equivalent
Excellent English written and spoken communication skills
Customer or supplier relationship management
Experience of working cross boundary in a multi-cultural organisation
Global supply chain, distribution or site planning experience
Technical expertise in SAP, MDG, APO, OMP
Experience with LoCoNoCo solutions (Power suite, Smartsheet)
Desirable Skills/Experience
Analytical and problem-solving skills
LEAN capabilities
Business Process, Project & Change Management experience
