Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in engineering, and 10 years of experience leading organizations of engineers.
• Experience delivering hyperscale cloud services to Enterprise customers.
• Experience working with supplier and partner teams to build solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience within storage, cloud services, or platform development.
• Experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with partners and developing relationships, ideally in storage products.
• Ability to explain complex business or technical challenges.
• Ability to operate in a complex, fast-moving environment, collaborating across multiple teams and functions within and beyond Google.
• Excellent “big picture” strategy thinking, enabling teams to deliver management solutions that are effective at scale.

About the job

Google Cloud Storage (GCS) provides exceptional, planet scale, object storage service for external Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers and for internal large-scale Google products like Gmail, Photos, Drive and YouTube.

GCS Storage Management is a relatively new GCS pillar with teams in Hyderabad, India and Seattle. GCS customers manage trillions of objects and tens of thousands of projects. This is extremely time consuming, and not as effective. This has caused a high priority need for introducing supported, innovative, and easy-to-use storage management solutions to market. In this role, you will be responsible for building teams, defining future strategy, and delivering an innovative solution in this space.

Responsibilities

• Lead a software engineering team of 100+ software engineers across two sites, and oversee a portfolio of GCS products and components.
• Work cross-functionally within the broader engineering community and Product Management to deliver solutions for our customers. Partner closely with cross-functional leads to define the future vision, strategy, and solutions for GCS and Google Storage.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across Google, including senior leaders within cloud to influence management offerings. 
• Contribute to the long-term strategy and innovation of Google Cloud Storage and Infrastructure.  
• Be a strategic thought leader and work closely with customer-facing Googlers, partners, and customers themselves, to ensure we continue to meaningfully reduce friction and thus drive adoption.
